Climate change is a growing challenge in our community, particularly affecting women, youth, and low-income households. In recent years, we have witnessed increased flooding, extreme heat, irregular rainfall patterns, and environmental pollution caused by poor waste management. These challenges have affected livelihoods, damaged infrastructure, reduced agricultural productivity, and increased health risks for vulnerable populations.
As an organization working closely with women and girls, we have observed how environmental degradation and climate-related events disproportionately impact their economic and social well-being. Many women in our communities depend on small-scale businesses and agricultural activities that are vulnerable to changing weather conditions and environmental hazards.
To contribute to climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability, USBIN WOMEN INITIATIVE has promoted community awareness on environmental responsibility and practical waste management solutions. One of our initiatives involves encouraging women and girls to collect and repurpose waste plastic bottles and containers for tree planting and seedling cultivation. This activity helps reduce plastic pollution while increasing green spaces and promoting environmental conservation.
Through these efforts, participants learn the importance of recycling, tree planting, and environmental stewardship. Trees play a critical role in absorbing carbon dioxide, improving air quality, reducing soil erosion, and helping communities adapt to the effects of climate change.
We believe that empowering women and girls to take part in simple, community-driven environmental actions can contribute meaningfully to climate resilience while creating cleaner and healthier communities.
