This photo reminds me of the journey that shaped me into the woman I am today.
As my twins prepare to celebrate their 18th birthday on July 5, I find myself reflecting on my journey into motherhood. Looking back, I realize that becoming a mother was one of the most challenging, beautiful, and transformative experiences of my life.
When I first learned that I was pregnant, my doctor gave me unexpected news—I was carrying twins. However, the doctor also explained that there was no guarantee that both babies would survive. I would need to be extremely careful, take complete rest, and wait until the fourth month to know more through an ultrasound.
Hearing this filled me with both hope and fear. I decided to leave my own home and move to my mother's house so that she could take care of me during my pregnancy. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made.
My mother cared for me with endless love and devotion. She made sure that I rested, ate properly, and never felt alone. Even after my babies were born, she continued to support me in every possible way. A mother's love is truly unconditional, and no words can fully describe what my mother did for me during that difficult time.
Despite the challenges of my pregnancy, I refused to give up on my education. When I was five months pregnant, I sat for my Bachelor's first-year final examinations. Carrying twins made my pregnancy especially difficult. During the last few months, I often could not sleep at night. My body became heavy, and even simple movements were painful. Still, I remained determined and mentally strong.
I was only 22 years old when I gave birth to my twins. Although I was young, I faced every challenge with determination and courage. Looking back now, I am proud of the strength I showed during that phase of my life.
Finally, on July 5, my twins were born through a C-section.
We did not know the gender of our babies before birth because they were positioned face-to-face in the womb, making it impossible for the ultrasound to identify their sex. During the surgery, my daughter was delivered first because she was positioned higher, while my son was lower and much smaller, so it took a little longer to bring him safely into the world.
During the C-section, my daughter was delivered first because she was positioned higher in the womb. My son was positioned lower and was much smaller. Just two minutes after my daughter was born, the doctors were able to safely deliver my son. Those two precious moments changed my life forever.
When the doctors announced that I had given birth to one daughter and one son, everyone was overjoyed. The entire hospital seemed filled with happiness. My family members could hardly contain their excitement. Having twins—a boy and a girl—felt like a special blessing for all of us.
While my family celebrated, I remained under observation for almost ten hours. When I was finally moved to my cabin, I was able to see my babies properly for the first time. It was a moment I will never forget.
My son had a very low birth weight, so the doctors advised us to take extra care of him. I was also given two bags of blood after delivery to help me recover and ensure that I could breastfeed my babies without suffering from severe nutritional deficiencies. Mothers of twins need special care too, something that is often overlooked.
Thankfully, I was surrounded by loving family members who supported me throughout my recovery. By the time forty days had passed, I had regained much of my strength. My daughter was healthy from the beginning, while my son required extra attention and care. With patience, love, and dedicated support, he improved significantly within a month and a half.
Motherhood changed my life in many ways, but I never abandoned my dreams. When my twins were one year old, I completed my Bachelor's second-year final examinations. When they turned two, I completed my third-year finals. Eventually, I went on to complete my Master's degree as well.
To raise my children well, I chose to put my career ambitions aside for many years. My priority was giving my son and daughter the love, care, and guidance they needed while growing up.
When they reached their teenage years, I began a new chapter of my life—one focused on my personal growth, mental well-being, and rediscovering my own dreams. Slowly, I started rebuilding my professional journey.
Today, I am finally able to move forward with my career aspirations. I am proud to be a story writer on World Pulse, where I can share my experiences and inspire other women to believe in themselves, pursue self-improvement, and never give up on their dreams.
My journey to motherhood was not easy, but it made me stronger. Looking back, I feel nothing but gratitude—for my mother, my family, my children, and every challenge that shaped me into the woman I am today.
