DAY 10 | WHEN SOMEONE LOOKS OKAY, DO WE STILL CHECK IN? πŸ’œ

There is a person we all know who seems to have everything together. They are always smiling. They show up at work. They take care of their responsibilities. They make other people laugh. Whenever you ask how they are, they say, β€œI’m fine.”

So we move on.

But sometimes, being able to function does not mean that someone is not struggling. People can carry pain quietly while continuing with their everyday lives.

They may not know how to talk about it. They may not want to worry others. They may fear being judged. Or they may simply have become used to saying, β€œI’m fine.”

That is why we cannot always wait for visible signs of distress before we reach out.

A simple: β€œHow are you, really?” can be an invitation.

It says, β€œYou don’t have to pretend with me.”

We may not have all the answers. We may not be able to solve what someone is going through.

But we can listen.

We can take them seriously.

We can remind them that they do not have to carry everything in silence.

Changing the narrative on suicide means looking beyond appearances and making conversations about emotional wellbeing part of everyday life.

So today, think of someone you have not checked on in a while.

Ask.

And if they choose to talk, listen.

πŸ’œ Start the conversation.
