HOPE ON THE HORIZONES PROJECT(EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Yawora Foundation is a community-based refugee-led organization operating in Uganda, with registration under the Uganda Bureau of Registration Services (URSB). (reg no. 80034098380847.)

The Foundation carries out its activities within Kyaka 2 Refugee Settlement, a settlement composed of nine zones, with a primary focus on Itambabiniga Zone. Guided by its mission to transform vulnerable communities, Yawora Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life for refugees and host communities, particularly youth, persons with disabilities, elderly individuals, and mother-headed households.

The Foundation works in close alignment with national frameworks and humanitarian guidelines, including collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister through the Refugee Department, to ensure that its interventions are relevant, inclusive, and sustainable. Its core values emphasize dignity, inclusion, empowerment, and community resilience.

Yawora Foundation implements a range of integrated interventions aimed at addressing the pressing needs of the community. These include livelihood, financial literacy, psychosocial support, and smart agriculture. Through these programs, YAWORA Foundation seeks to empower beneficiaries with practical skills, improve household welfare, and promote long-term self-reliance.

YAWORA Foundation with the support from FOUR SISTERS’ FOUNDATION has successfully implemented key initiatives such as the Hope on the horizon Project, which focuses on combating malnutrition and food insecurity among vulnerable households. The project has Serves approximately 40 households that consist of over 200 direct beneficiaries providing essential food supplies and hygiene items such as soap.

Building on this success, YAWORA Foundation is currently implementing the Hope on the Horizon Project, also supported by Four Sisters Foundation. This initiative targets vulnerable families, including persons with disabilities and mother-headed households, by providing monthly food and basic household supplies.

The project has demonstrated significant positive outcomes within the community. Beneficiaries have reported improved food security, transitioning from eating once a day to three meals daily. Additionally, households are now better able to support their children’s education and meet basic needs. This transformation highlights the importance of sustained humanitarian support and community-focused interventions in fostering resilience and improving livelihoods.

Yawora Foundation remains dedicated to strengthening its programs and expanding its reach to ensure that more vulnerable households can benefit from these life-changing initiatives in the future.
