Prominent Ugandan Educator Ssali Badru Champions Science Education and Youth Empowerment 

KAMPALA — At a time when Uganda is seeking to strengthen science education and equip young people with practical skills for the future, educator and author Mr. Ssali Badru continues to distinguish himself through his commitment to quality teaching, mentorship, and academic resource development.

A graduate of Makerere University, Mr. Badru has earned recognition as a dedicated Chemistry and Mathematics teacher whose learner-centred approach has helped students develop confidence in subjects often regarded as challenging. His teaching emphasises conceptual understanding, critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical application, enabling learners to perform well in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations while preparing them for higher education and professional careers.

Recognising the growing role of technology in education, Mr. Badru offers both physical and online lessons through Zoom, allowing students from different parts of Uganda to access quality science instruction. His lessons incorporate interactive discussions, guided discovery, practical demonstrations, brainstorming sessions, and continuous assessment, creating an engaging learning environment that encourages curiosity and independent thinking.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Badru has authored Chemistry and Mathematics books aimed at simplifying complex concepts for learners. His publications have become useful reference materials for students, teachers, and schools seeking practical and easy-to-understand learning resources.

His contribution to education also includes preparing revision materials, designing mock examinations, conducting holiday coaching programmes, organising academic seminars and workshops, providing career guidance, and supporting schools in curriculum implementation and learner assessment.

Away from education, Mr. Badru is actively involved in agribusiness entrepreneurship. He believes agriculture offers significant opportunities for economic transformation, youth employment, and sustainable development. Through his work, he encourages young people to embrace entrepreneurship alongside formal education as a pathway to self-reliance and community development.
