THE AUDACITY OF GRIEF.

The audacity of grief is so alarming, what an audacious audacity. Grief is the only thing that can walk into a room filled with joy and gladness and leave sorrow, pains, hurts and bitterness as the souvenir. They say grief is such a windy road, it moves when it get ready and doesn’t need your permission neither does it give a notice of its coming. It comes in different way and has no respect nor class for anyone, it breaks through cold ice heart, gets to the high and mighty. It hit hard that it takes one off balance not minding your stand.

Grief broke my wall of joy and crept in, I thought I was a big girl, all grown and strong hearted but grief thought me otherwise, this was on a different level and form. I lost my mom 2days after my birthday which was on the 21st of July 2026, I was all happy all joyful as I receive different wishes and gifts. I never knew grief was looking right at me waiting and ready so it would come knocking. On the 24th of July 2026 a day I can never forget, at about 3am I received a call saying my mom slumped and about two hour later I received another call saying she had passed that she didn’t make it. My world paused and grief ran into me the hardest way ever.

I thought not being close to her was going to make it easy because I grew up with my dad as they separated when I was 4years old and she left me with my dad. At some point in my life I blamed her for leaving me behind so a step mother could maltreat, but at that point of hearing about her death none of that mattered to me anymore, all I could see was grief and how I had lost a parent, how I no longer have a mom.

Her demise made me realize that I had loved her even more than I could admit and began to wish she was still alive and loving me from afar as she had always done instead of being dead.

Grief and it audacity will open your eye to lot of regrets of various stages, those things you hold dearly to your heart will no long matter. A parent is a parent regardless of how you think they had hurt you, because when they are no longer here, you’ll so wish they stay longer on earth. The audacity of grief will make you realize how important they are to you for grief comes in caps lock bold and bigger fonts you can't just miss it.

Love your parents and loved ones, show them how much you do love them, at the end of the day the memories you have of them is all you have and what will keep you sane when grief comes knocking
