Fathers are Ladders
They tell the story of the woman who rose
the degree she earned at midnight,
the business she built from a borrowed table,
the dream she carried like a second child.
They rarely tell you who held the lamp.
Who said, go back to school, I will manage the children.
Who learned to braid hair because she had a deadline.
Who sat through her silences without flinching,
who clapped the loudest in a room that didn't know his name.
This is for the men who stayed.
Not the ones who left and called it weakness,
not the ones who broke what they should have built,
this is for the other kind.
The kind history forgets to mention because his love made no noise.
He is the husband who said our money when she earned more than he did.
The father who walked his daughter to school
through a town that doubted girls were worth the walk.
The man who carried what he didn't have to carry, simply because she once carried him.
Somewhere, a woman is standing on a stage, accepting an award, a title, a new beginning
and behind that moment, unseen, is a man who washed dishes so she could write
who said I believe you before the world did, who chose, again and again,
to be her shelter and not her storm.
We do not say this enough- some men build. Some men stay.
Some fathers are the reason their daughters expect to be loved well, and their sons learn how to do the same.
So today, we say it.
To the fathers who showed up👏
to the husbands who made room❤️
to the men whose love looked like patience, like sacrifice, like staying when it would have been easier to go
Thank you.🙏
You are also the reason so many women rose.
Happy Father's Day ❤️ ❤️
PS: This piece deliberately doesn't erase or dismiss the real stories of harm that many women on World Pulse have shared,it simply makes space for a different, equally true story to exist alongside them. We need fathers.
