Voices Across Borders: Stories of Becoming, Belonging & Building New Lives

Voices Across Borders is a storytelling and connection initiative created to make immigrant women’s experiences visible, valued, and shared.

Built around real stories of leaving, landing, living in-between, and becoming, the initiative creates space for women to speak about what it takes to rebuild a life across borders. Rather than presenting migration only through statistics or hardship, Voices Across Borders centres the women themselves: their identities, resilience, challenges, relationships, ambitions, cultural values, and the new possibilities they create.

The initiative will bring women together through storytelling, conversations, community sessions, and published stories, creating opportunities for participants to connect with one another and learn from experiences that may be very different on the surface but deeply familiar underneath.

Through these stories, I want to address a simple question:

What happens when women realise they are not alone in becoming someone new while still carrying where they came from?

The initiative will initially focus on immigrant women in Canada and the United States, with the intention of building a broader cross-border community over time. Stories will be shared through the Voices Across Borders publication and podcast, community conversations, and digital storytelling.

The impact I hope to create is both personal and collective: helping women feel seen, giving them a platform to share their voices, creating meaningful connections, and inspiring other women to move from isolation towards belonging, from uncertainty towards possibility, and from simply adapting to actively shaping their next chapter.
