For an hour, we sat together in a circle with no sides—no hierarchy, no barriers, just people sharing, listening, and connecting as equals.

60 Seconds. One Story. One Truth.

We gathered for a Climate Communication session at 8:00 a.m. PT on Thursday, 27 August 2026, via Zoom. The session began with something deceptively small yet surprisingly powerful: telling a 60-second climate story.

A moment. A place. A feeling. What has changed. And, most importantly, what is now at stake for the person listening.

Our host, Kat Haber, asked me to start with my body, not with data.

We began with 90 seconds of grounding—hands on the belly, feet firmly on the floor, and three slow breaths. A pit stop, not meditation. And it worked.

It was 9:10 p.m. in India, and I was already drained. Yet those few simple breaths helped me bring my nervous system back online, stay present, and find the energy to tell the truth without catastrophizing.

I shared the story of the deficit monsoon in my hometown, the Nilgiri Hills—a place where the monsoon is not just a season but a lifeline. Agriculture supports much of my community, and the rains play a crucial role in sustaining livelihoods and stabilizing the local economy throughout the year.

And at the heart of my story is my 98-year-old grandmother, who is still farming.

I didn't try to argue with Uncle Denier about climate change. I simply shared what I see, what I feel, and what my community is experiencing right now.

Sometimes, climate communication isn't about overwhelming people with numbers.

Sometimes, it's about telling one lived story honestly enough for someone else to feel it.

And at the end of the session , I received the Fireworks that Kat promised me. FIREWORKS. The version of climate coaching ourself and that FIREWORK version uncovered by the 12 X 12 research project that was presented at the International Coaches Federation. Were they selected as finalists in their Social Impact Awards for the category of Emerging Catalyst.
